Slumdog Millionaire wins 8 oscar.

slumdog millionaire win 8 oscarSlumdog millionaire swept the Oscar Academy awards in Los Angeles .I had rightly predicted even before this film was nominated for Oscar.see here____
Indians were too happy and enthusiastic and all and sundry including the Dharawi slum inhabitants were logged on to this spectacle. However its very premature to conclude that an Indian film won an Oscar. It was an outright British film with Indian artists and some technicians.A R Rahman is a genius and it shows in his behaviour.he prefers keeping a low profile focusing his entire energy on music. His music is his own compositions and not copies of western melodies an art in which Indian composers like Anu malik and others are expert.
However this film is a slap on the face of Bollywood film makers who keep shouting about shortage of content for making good films.Story telling and screen play is an art which Indian directors have to learn.Off course there are exceptions like Hrishikesh Mukherjee and Shyam benegal.Irfan Khan as always has done justice to his role in the film.It is to the credit of Danny Boyle that he could make Dev Patel and Freida pinto act considering their non acting backgrounds. This is where the art lies in which you extract the best out of everyone.Though I don’t understand the publicity Anil Kapoor is getting for a role which amounts to nothing.Anil Kapoor is everywhere,on the posters and on the red carpet etc.Jai Ho was a good song but not the best though but beautifully blends with the theme of the film.Salute to Danny Boyle that he could use Rahman and Gulzar in a constructive way. However what beats me is why Sukhwinder singh the singer of Jai Ho was not invited to Oscar stage. He was denied a US visa?Who played the spoil sport?
There is a opposition to this film in India too.Famous self appointed Bollywood censors like Amitabh Bacchan (ghost promoted by alter ego Amar singh ji) did lambaste the film for showing Indian poverty.Whats wrong? Is it not truth about India shining?Dharawi indeed is just a mirror of our society and such places exist all over India where crime is rampant and politicians don’t give heed.It took a British filmmaker to take India to Oscars twice during the film Gandhi and later now in Slumdog.I think slumdog really means an underdog in this film which Indians sitting in high places are not able to understand.I know Vijay mallya will have his next calendar shoot in Dharawi!!It takes a gora man to awaken us to our problems in India. Why cant we and our bollywood brethren be a little more compassionate about these countrymen.Slums indeed are a blot on the face of any country. It shows that we are not able to eradicate poverty even after 60 years of Independence.Did Dharawi exist in the times of British?no!It took another British man Danny Boyle to prove that”look you are worse off after independence”!Its time Mahesh Bhatts and others make some original stuff rather than copying from western film DVD’s.After all how much can you dance in the films and make mockery of art.!!
